November update
23 Nov 2020 by Daz Whitehead
Hello everyone,
A quick update as we head towards winter from the season that never was.
First and foremost, I hope you & your family are all keeping well.
As far as the club goes, we have several events lined up for next year that have rolled over from 2020. As it stands, we cannot yet confirm any dates until we fully understand how to interpret future government restrictions. Clearly, the current situation is fluid and changes on an almost daily basis. Looking back at the last AGM in November 2019, we said we would hold the next one around February 2021. This is already unlikely to happen. We will assess the situation in a couple of months and then make a decision on the timing and practicalities of an AGM. Renewal of membership subscriptions will be delayed until the next AGM.
We have the plans and necessary assessments in place to provide a Covid-safe race event. Changes will be explained at the AGM and any suggestions and concerns will be discussed and resolved at the time.
Administration wise, we renewed our public liability way back in January. This is the main reason why we will report a loss of £972 in our accounts for the 2020 season. Speaking of insurance, we are currently exploring options for its renewal after our long time provider withdrew from the event insurance market. Given the limited number of insurers, we fully expect the cost of public liability to increase for 2021.
We have taken opportunity of the time off to reassess suitable racing engines. The eagle-eyed amongst you would have noticed a v-twin on one of Rozza’s recent videos. The feedback was interesting and we will explore further before sharing the results and our thoughts on the future direction of engines.
May I take the opportunity to wish you a peaceful and above all healthy winter break.
I will be in touch late January, early February with the next update.
